Eat Inside a 1940’s Movie Theatre at Sinema Nashville

What is it like to eat dinner inside an old movie theater? Much fancier than you would think.

Sinema, built inside Nashville’s historic Melrose Theatre, has quickly become a local favorite since opening in summer of 2014.

Inside the restaurant was dimly lit and sexy, filled with the type of posh couples who do fancy dinner on a Tuesday night.  Looking around I tried to find remnants of the original theatre, but once seated you would never know you were in a converted space.  On the walk back to the amazing old-Hollywood style bathroom there were press clippings and historic articles about the theatre throughout the years.

IMG_7959The menu is a mixture of American specialties with many things to try– everything from pierogis to grits and an impressive variety of seafood dishes.  I’ve heard Sunday brunch is one of the hottest tickets in the city– no surprise bottle service is an option since the Director of Operations and partner, Q-Juan Taylor, comes from the Palms Casino in Las Vegas.  The Sinema team is already planning their next move with another local restaurant to open soon.
